BARCC Directors

Gina Scaramella, LICSW, Executive Director
BARCC's Executive Director provides overall leadership and management of the agency, working closely with our Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers to support and promote BARCC's mission and activities.

Melissa Gopnik, Managing Director
Our Managing Director oversees BARCC's operations, providing financial stewardship and ensuring that the agency is run in accordance with best in non-profit management and in a manner that supports its strategic goals.

Peggy Barrett, Director of Community Awareness and Prevention Services (CAPS)
Our Director of Community Awareness and Prevention Services oversees BARCC's awareness building, training, and prevention programs, working with BARCC's partners in the communities we serve.

Lois Glass, LICSW, Clinical Director
Our Clinical Director provides clinical oversight of all BARCC programs.

BARCC Job Descriptions

Our Adolescent Clinician provides clinical services, including short-term individual counseling and on- and off-site group counseling, to adolescent rape survivors at BARCC and at collaborating agencies.

Our Bilingual Clinician provides clinical services, including short-term individual counseling and on- and off-site group counseling, to rape survivors in English and Spanish at BARCC and at collaborating agencies.

Our Case Manager provides direct case management to survivors, including assisting with access to housing and disability resources; financial, immigration, and translation services; public benefits; and other community and government social service assistance.

Our Coordinator of Community Awareness and Outreach promotes greater awareness of the issue of sexual assault and BARCC's services throughout the communities we serve.

The Development Manager is responsible for assuring that BARCC has the best appropriate systems to support raising funds effectively and efficiently. They are also responsible for the stewardship of small individual donors.

Our Hotline Coordinator oversees our hotline program and recruits, trains, and supervises volunteer hotline counselors.

Our Immigrant Outreach Coordinator mobilizes and works with the Boston Haitian community and other designated communities to raise awareness of and prevention of sexual violence through partnerships, workshops, and public education.

Our Legal Advocate provides legal advocacy services, including brief consultations and referrals, to clients.

Our Manager of the Clinical Intern Program is responsible for recruiting, supervising, and training clinical interns. They also maintain relationships with graduate level clinical intern programs at colleges. Our Manager of Medical Advocacy oversees BARCC's medical advocacy program and promotes survivor-focused policies and practices at area hospitals. Our Manager of System Advocacy and Policy Development oversees BARCC's legal advocacy and case management programs, working with police departments, legal agencies, and universities to champion policy changes that will benefit survivors. Our Medical Advocacy Clinical Coordinator recruits, trains, and supervises volunteer medical advocates to ensure that survivors' immediate post-assault needs are met.

Our Youth Prevention Services Coordinator promotes and implements programs aimed at changing beliefs and behaviors about sexual violence among youth ages 12 to 18, and the organizations that work with them, in the communities BARCC serves.
