If someone you care about has been sexually assaulted, you have also been affected.
You may feel powerless and out of control, just as your friend does. You may feel frustration, fear, guilt, anger, or confusion. Your friend’s feelings and yours may be similar. Healing after a sexual assault is a complex process, and a range of feelings are to be expected.
You may also feel confused about how to best help your friend. If you take care of yourself and your feelings, you will be better able to help your friend. The crisis touches both of you, so BARCC offers free services to friends and families of a sexual assault survivor.
